About
Whether you are seeking counseling for the first time or have participated in some form of therapy in the past, the process of healing requires a partner who you can trust and will walk with you as you navigate the path of healing. So, I’ll take the first steps and tell you a little about myself and my journey in helping others to heal.
My path started over 30 years ago as a volunteer juvenile probation officer and continued for several years of direct care in inpatient psychiatric programs, outpatient rehabilitation centers, direct emergency care in the communities, and correctional treatment intensives. I continued in the field as a family advocate while working with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and as the director for local and regional social service agencies. My experiences have ranged from the entry-level behavioralist to the executive decision maker, but my heart was always pulling me back towards individual counseling.
Just like so many other people, I have had my own issues of hurt, loss, and setbacks that I have had to struggle through, but out of my own issues I gained a greater understanding and desire to never let others go through life’s hardships alone. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients in their lowest despair to watch others make life changes they never believed they could accomplish. I’ve counseled young children, adolescents, couples, families, adults, and senior adults with issues ranging from depression, grief, anxiety, trauma, family and marital issues, parenting difficulties, to addictions. So, whatever you are going through, it does not have to be navigated alone.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and have a Qualified Mental Health Provider – Community Service certification. In addition, I am a certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts) Facilitator
