Child Counseling
Child Therapy
Therapy helps children and their families find support from an experienced professional in a supportive and loving environment. In therapy, children learn to understand their emotions, develop coping skills and strategies to better communicate their thoughts and feelings. Parents also learn to understand their own emotional responses, learn means of better listening to their children, encouraging them to share more freely. Emotional safety is increased for everyone as parents improve their skills in managing the emotionally charged situations they confront while staying calm. Parents may also learn assertiveness and parenting skills. Because children generally see their world through a lens in which they are the cause of the problems in their lives, they may also internalize problems in their environment as their fault. This may include things such as divorce, abuse, neglect, parents losing jobs, other financial pressures, anger issues, other parental conflict, etc.
