Helplessness and Victimhood Counseling

Are You Feeling Helpless?

If you are feeling helpless or have experienced abuse, abandonment, crime, other trauma or anything that left you feeling alone, hopeless, discouraged, or afraid it is important to know you are not alone. We are here to help you discover the roots of the feelings of helplessness or to walk with you through recovery from being victimized. You may be having troubles with work, current relationships, unresolved thoughts or emotions with past relationships, childhood trauma, or other painful experiences that seem to be interfering with your current well-being.

Don't Wait!

Having gone through an experience of being victimized can cause any and all of the symptoms above as well as many more. This can be even more difficult if the experience or experiences happened over an extended period of time or with people we should have been able to trust, such as family, friends, or coworkers.

You may also notice that you tend to trust the wrong people and have difficulty trusting people that you should be able to trust. Frequently the trauma of these experiences shifts the brain in a way that we find ourselves choosing to trust people that keep hurting us, while those that would be most likely to love and support us get pushed aside or pushed out of our lives. This creates confusion for both ourselves and those around us. It also creates a cycle that reinforces the lack of safety in our lives and lack of support.
