Drug and Alcohol Addiction
Recovery Plan
When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, part of the denial is “it’s only affecting me.” If only that were true… A difficult piece is it affects everyone around, friends, family, co-workers, and more. It is common for someone to be interested in counseling about addiction without being addicted. There is an understanding that the person addicted matters, but others around and how they are handling the past hurts and present transition matters too.A person’s recovery plan is specifically shaped to each individual and their needs. In the past, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was the single option for support and recovery for a person’s addiction. Over time, a culmination of ways, methods, and programs were created from all sorts of people from different backgrounds. Sometimes this can be daunting to figure out what is the best method to gain fulfilling sobriety. One person’s recovery plan does not work for everyone.
